Within- and Between-Person Components of Variance for Nutrient Intakes in the United States, 1994

Abstract: The 1994-96 Continuing Survey of Food Intakes by Individuals was conducted to measure the kinds and amounts of foods consumed by the U.S. population. A national probability sample of individuals living in households was interviewed in their homes on two non-consecutive days and provided 24-hour recalls of their dietary intake. This report on components of variance provides design-based estimates of the within- and between-person coefficients of variation, based on data collected in 1994, for intakes of 26 nutrients and other dietary constituents for selected sex-age subpopulations.
