Abstract: Excerpts from the Preface: This bibliography contains selected references, with annotations, to literature on nonurban land ownership and certain related subjects which appeared during the period 1900 to the middle of 1951. Although most of the material represented is in English, many items in foreign languages likewise have been included. Special emphasis has been placed upon abandoned farms, absentee ownership, father and son partnerships and agreements, inheritance, land grants, public lands, subsistence homesteads, tax-reverted lands, titles, and transfer. The bibliography is arranged according to a subject classification. References giving broad coverage to their subject, or dealing with more than one country, are grouped under the heading "General." Within each subject classification, entries are. arranged alphabetically by author, or by title where no author is given. Separate author and subject indexes have been provided.
