Handling, Transportation, Storage, and Marketing of Peaches: A Digest of Recent Contributions to the Knowledge of Physical and Biological Phases of the Subject

Mark H. Haller

No 323983, USDA Miscellaneous from United States Department of Agriculture

Abstract: Excerpts from the report: This digest is a report of a study made under the Research and Marketing Act of 1946. It is one of a series to cover the biology and physical handling of important horticultural crops during the marketing period. This digest covers primarily the literature from 1938 to 1951, but some citations of an earlier date that seem particularly pertinent or noteworthy are included. This digest covers (1) the physical and biological aspects of the development of the fruit as it approaches maturity, and (2) its handling in the fresh state from harvest to the consumer.
