Abstract:
Excerpt from the report Introduction: This Report has been prepared by a joint task force appointed to develop a coordinated State-Federal program of research for food and nutrition during the decade ahead. As recommended by the USDA Agricultural Research Planning Committee, the review and the projected researches expand on several problem areas of the National Program of Research for Agriculture (October 1966). The three major problem areas covered all pertain to Goal VII, to protect consumer health and improve nutrition and well-being of the American people. They are: Research Problem Area RPA 703 - Food Choices, Habits, and Consumption; RPA 704 - Quality of Food in Homes and Institutions; RPA 708 -Human Nutritional Well-Being. Research in food and nutrition must provide the basic knowledge required for planning and evaluating programs for improving the nutritional level of diets of all people.
