Starting a Fruit and Vegetable Cooperative: Factors to Consider

William R. Seymour

No 349200, USDA Miscellaneous from United States Department of Agriculture

Abstract: Excerpt from the Preface: A few fruit and/or vegetable producers or a large group may believe forming a cooperative is the answer to their marketing problems. However, before they start to organize and develop a new cooperative, they must understand what a cooperative is, the role of cooperatives in marketing, factors to consider before starting a cooperative, and the steps in determining if the proposed cooperative is feasible. The major purpose of this publication is present a background information on fruit and vegetable cooperative development procedures.
