Abstract:
This paper reports the results of an assessment of 1985 land requirements and availability under alternative demand and yield assumptions. Specifically, alternative levels of foreign and domestic demand are projected, and interfaced with yield projections at arrive at 1985 land requirements. These requirements are then compared with land availability. Results suggest an adequate cropland base at the national level but some adjustment when extended to a regional level.
