Zimbabwe Cotton to Clothing Value Chain study

Zimbabwe Economic Policy Analysis and Research Unit (ZEPARU)

No 305819, ZEPARU Research Studies from Zimbabwe Economic Policy Analysis and Research Unit (ZEPARU)

Abstract: The study revealed the extent of the destruction of the TC sub-sector and its ancillary industries beginning from the time of ESAP to the present. It also outlined the direct consequences of deindustrialization and unfettered competition in TC goods from outside on employment, the country’s GDP, balance of trade, Fiscal and Foreign currency revenues as well as the general livelihoods of the community. The report's analysis of the firms and the Cotton to Clothing Value Chain showed that very few of the firms and link chains were globally competitive.
