Abstract:
Labour informality is a relevant category to analyse economic and social issues in developing countries such as the employment structure, the dynamic of wages and the distribution of labour income. This paper examines the evolution of employment in the informal sector, and of its different components, in relation to economic cycles in Argentina during the last four decades. It is discussed to what extent the role played by this sector can reflect different conceptual approaches and its heterogeneity is emphasized.
