Abstract:
The monograph of William Deresiewicz, the former professor at Yale University, is devoted to an expand beyond analysis of shortcomings of the education model applied at the most prestigious higher education universities of the United States - the members of the Ivy League. The author considers the social derivatives of elitism: the loss of mutual understanding with all other segments of the population, indifference to others people needs and group egoism. The negative consequences of this phenomenon expand beyond the sphere of morality and constitute a danger to the public, since the Ivy League and other elite US universities traditionally play the role of talent pipeline, delivering mangers for business and the government.
