Abstract: In the article, the author evaluates the current state of Russian’s automotive industry and the role of the world-leading foreign manufacturers in it. Based on the analysis of the structural changes and key economic indicators of the branch’s enterprises, the criteria of their industrial and technological cooperation efficiency evaluation are determined. The assessment of the adverse negative effects of the 2015 macroeconomic changes on the performance of the enterprises substantiates the national automotive industry’s development factors, based on which the reñommendations concerning the increase in the technological specialization in Russia driven by the improvement of the automotive industry’s local integration ratio over the medium term are proposed.
