Abstract:
In the article the author examines specific areas of import substitution processes in key sectors of agriculture, proving the success of reforms initiated in particular in pig production, as well as considers the trends and problems of import substitution in the production of seeds, vegetables and dairy products. A suggestion for improving the labeling of dairy products is given. The author emphasizes the need for strict control of production costs with a view to increasing international competitiveness of Russia’s agro-industrial products on the global market, and notes that the high cost of credit is a serious obstacle to the development of production of many agricultural products.
