Abstract:
Given the current economic conditions characterized by the declining intensity of traditional foreign economic relations under sanctions, the diversification of foreign trade by its reorientation towards other countries and sectors could become a factor of economic growth for a number of Russian border regions. Based on empirical evidence from Zabaykalsky Krai the article discusses the challenges that the economies of geostrategic territories (regions) are facing and the prospects of their export-led growth model. With a view to ensuring diversification of foreign economic activity and its transformation into a driver of socioeconomic development for Zabaykalsky Krai the main priorities are identified, new projects and their implementation mechanisms are proposed.
