Abstract:
The article deals with the peculiarities of gold mining companies in Azerbaijan. Based on the SWOT analysis of Anglo Asian Mining plc. (AAM), the gold mining company, the main factors influencing the performance of the gold mining industry in general were identified, evaluated and ranked. AAM is a good example of a company with high-quality assets and low costs, which succeeded in benefiting from the Production Sharing Agreement (PSA). It is concluded that the company does not conduct the activities that it could discontinue or even leave the market to eliminate the threats, however, the company’s strengths are enough to reduce possible risks, and there are plenty of opportunities to eliminate its weaknesses.Analyzing the benefits that Azerbaijan has derived from the gold mining, the author argues that this growing industry is promising and the country might become one of the largest suppliers of gold on the world market.
