Prospects for Inbound Tourism in Russia (Regional Level)

Abstract: Inbound tourism is one of the promising growth sectors for Russia’s economy that generates foreign exchange earnings alternative to oil and gas export revenues. The article deals with the prospects for inbound tourism in Russia at regional level (federal districts). The efficiency of using tourist resources of Russian regions in the system of inbound tourism is assessed. New scientific approach including comparison of tourist resources of foreign states and Russian regions is presented. The method helps to estimate the potential of inbound tourism in Russia. The ways to strengthen competiveness of the Russian tourism and travel industry are also proposed in the article. Foreign experience of inbound tourism is analyzed.
