Abstract:
The article analyzes the causes of rapid economic growth of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana during the global recession. The quantitative indicators of the country’s foreign trade, including with Russia, are studied. The article examines the investment climate and the government’s measures to improve legislation in this area. The increasing inflow of foreign investment in Guyana is revealed. Based on the assessment of the country’s mineral deposits some promising areas for investment cooperation between Russia and Guyana are identified. The author suggests that given the role of Guyana in CARICOM it could become a platform for expanding the Russian presence in this region.
