Abstract: These days a lot of European countries have decided to stop buying gas from Russia as they want to punish the country for starting the special operation in Ukraine. The statements and speech of the European governments and ministers raised an interesting question: “Is it really possible to do that?”. The author of the article did her best to demonstrate all the ways of reducing Italy’s dependence on Russia’s gas. This country was not chosen by chance – Italy has been one of the largest Russian trading partners for several decades. In conclusion the author provides an answer to the question whether Italy’s desire to stop buying Russian gas may become true or it is only words.
