Abstract: Africa’s energy potential is enormous. Paradoxically, African countries are among the least developed and unindustrialized countries due to their low level of energy supply, which is a consequence of the lack of exploitation or inefficient exploitation of these resources. Russia’s experience in the use of energy resources and distributing energy (electricity) makes the energy sector one of the key areas for cooperation between Russia and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). The article analyzes and discusses the energy potential of the ECOWAS countries, the issues of electricity supply and ways to cooperate with Russia to fully develop the energy potential of these countries.
