Abstract:
This paper will research the possibilities to develop creative tourism in a tourist destination, and it will in particular consider development perspectives for this selective form of tourism in the Republic of Croatia. As a form of cultural tourism, creative tourism denotes the satisfaction of tourists' needs with the development of creative potentials through acquisition of new knowledge and experiences regarding holiday destinations. Starting from theoretical assumptions of the creative tourism development and with sections of various researches in cultural tourism development of Croatian destinations, the possible directions in the development of creative tourism development will be shown in order to create new tourism offers. Secondary information sources are used in the work, while the primary sources are applied in the part of research regarding the interest of tourists in creative forms of tourism. As creative tourism is underrepresented in the Republic of Croatia, this paper proposes the possible model of creative tourism development of destinations, accentuating both its positive and negative sides. The realization of the creative offer in the destination involves the synergy of all destination stakeholders: managers (responsible for the creation of the destination tourism product), local inhabitants, various associations, entrepreneurs. With development of creative tourism, competitive advantages of the destination based on authenticity and in line with the demand trends of the tourism market can be obtained with minimum investments.
