Abstract:
In reference to the paper ‘Road to integrating facility management (FM) into corporate real estate management: Case study — Bayer’ (Corporate Real Estate Journal Volume 8 Number 4), this paper provides insights on the added value of a ‘global strategic facilities management (SFM) function’ and implementing Integrated FM (IFM) programmes in huge corporations. Moreover, it provides insights, practical steps and learnings on how to successfully implement IFM programmes in a strong collaboration with internal stakeholders and another enabling function like procurement in a phase where the whole world has faced a significant challenge by coping with a pandemic. Out of the pandemic and new hybrid working settings, the idea of ‘dynamic facilities management’ is borne. Therefore, a short outlook on a future strategy is shared, which should open another chapter of adding value to Bayer.
