Managing digital (image) assets at Northwestern University

Abstract:
This paper resulted from a panel discussion at the ARLIS-NA 43rd Annual Conference, which addressed real-life models that defy the prescribed script for digital asset management and call on information professionals to build new workflows into existing organisations. The panel presented three scenarios addressing disparate digital materials, constituents and needs. In one, a large museum has concentrated workflow and organisational health around digital assets. In another, a small museum has utilised a single tool and workflow for bibliographic, collection and archival assets. In the third, as discussed in this paper, a large university adopts the needs of widely disparate digital image assets in both the humanities and sciences.
