Abstract: This paper discusses the main issues relating to the digital transformation of the payments market. It describes how, in the context of globalised financial services, digital transformation has been a key driver in the evolution of payments. Indeed, technological, sociological and geopolitical issues have all contributed to the payments market adopting a modern, prospective and international approach. In this context, the payment ecosystem is confronted with many issues linked with innovation, new use cases and social debate, as well as the question of sovereignty. While questions continue to arise, one thing is clear: the field of payments has grown beyond its technological origins to become a real asset in the global economy.
