Custodial operations in Malta: Current opportunities
Max Ganado
Journal of Securities Operations & Custody, 2010, vol. 3, issue 3, 218-225
Abstract:
An outline of major developments in Malta over the past two decades shows that the next major challenge in the investment services space is attracting custodians to Malta. Custodians are a critical factor in the island’s offering, especially in relation to UCITS. The author outlines the two options of a branch or a subsidiary and identifies the benefits and disadvantages of each option from a Maltese law perspective.
