Going global: The international impact of securities class actions

Pat Bingham-Peters

Journal of Securities Operations & Custody, 2013, vol. 6, issue 1, 42-50

Abstract: This paper discusses Goal Group’s recent report on securities class actions growth in legislatures outside of the USA. The paper explains the significance of the predictions made in the report, such as ‘securities class actions settlements are predicted to rise to US$8.3bn annually by 2020’. Having explored recent trends — including non-participation rates and changing fiduciary duties — the paper provides a considered view of the global securities class actions market and also indicates where continued growth and significant legislation is expected.
