Benefits of an international board and the opening of global markets

Noel Ford

Journal of Securities Operations & Custody, 2017, vol. 9, issue 1, 76-82

Abstract: In the period following the Global Financial Crisis of 2008, the international funds industry has been subject to critical review by several cohorts including regulators, investors and markets commentators. The volume of new regulatory directives issued in the period has presented new challenges to fund promoters and investors in balancing the need for regulatory compliance with the need to meet the commercial goals of investment vehicles. A substantive focus of the new regulatory regimes has been on the performance, transparency and accountability of the board function. In this new era, investment funds boards must strike a crucial balance between meeting the requirement of regulators and investors.
