Abstract: In the summer of 1939, Miron Cristea, “the greatest patriarch of Orthodoxy” – as he was regarded by the King of Ethiopia, Haile Selassie, visited England in an attempt to “remove the difficulties which prevent a close-up and the intimate cooperation of all Christians”. In Great Britain, Miron Cristea – an emblematic figure in the history and the memory of all Romanians – met several representatives of the Anglican Church, the academic environment and also King Edward VIII, sustaining that “The Church must be one, holy and apostolic”.
