BANCARIA, 2016, vol. 11, 19-47

Abstract: The compensation systems in private banking need to be aligned with the competitive strategy and consistent with organizational structure. Basing on a survey conducted in partnership with the Italian Association of Private Banks, the paper analyses the links between performance indicators and pay-for-performance incentives, on one hand, and between performance indicators and strategy, on the other hand. The results disclose the areas where it is recommended to improve the compensation systems currently used
