Abstract: Technology-enabled innovation in financial services (Fintech) involves important Regulatory challenges related to seeking a balance between free technology innovation, on one hand, and regulation, on the other. The complex interaction between Fintech and regulation is expected to create a gap between incumbents, subject to specific rules, and Fintech industries. Consequently, the European Authorities are trying to remove barriers and to promote a level playing field logic. This paper aims both at setting out the main current rules and at analysing the perspective guidelines issued by the Authorities, taking into consideration the different Fintech activities (crowdfunding, investment services, payments and Insurtech). Specifically, in its Fintech Action Plan (2018), the European Commission highlights the importance of supporting innovation and enhancing security and integrity in the financial sector
