Abstract: This review paper aims to provide a comprehensive review of the effects of social factors on depression. It explores the various social determinants that contribute to the development, maintenance, and exacerbation of depression in individuals. The paper examines the influence of social support, socioeconomic status and social isolation on depression. Additionally, it investigates the role of social media and online interactions in relation to depression. The findings of this review highlight the significant impact of social factors on depression and emphasize the need for targeted interventions and support systems to address these factors.
