Abstract: The tribunal was created according to Section 102 of the 2013 Kenya Information and Communication (Amendment) Act. It has the authority to hear appeals against the rulings of the industry’s regulators, the Communications Authority of Kenya and the Media Council of Kenya, as well as complaints from any citizen who feels wronged by an action or ruling of licensees that are telecommunications service providers under the Kenya Information and Communications Act. It also has the authority to hear complaints against any publication or conduct of a journalist or media enterprise.
