Abstract: This paper is about the securitization process of Afghan immigrants and refugees in Iran. The paper argues that the Islamic Republic of Iran has securitized Afghan immigrants after the Taliban came to power due to security, economic and socio-political problems. The paper applies securitization theory by both Copenhagen and Paris schools. Document analysis and desk research are the primary research methods of this paper. This study found out that the Islamic Republic of Iran has (de)securitized Afghan refugees by both discursive (speech acts) and securitizing practices.
