Abstract:
India is among the world's largest citrus producers, with output exceeding 16–17 million tonnes led by Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, yet exports remain limited to 2–3 per cent of production. The report examines constraints across the value chain — post-harvest losses, fragmented aggregation, quality standardisation, and logistics — and benchmarks global exporters to identify opportunities for market diversification. It outlines strategies to boost citrus exports through improved market access, better compliance, and targeted policy and institutional support.
