Abstract: The Yi Peng Festival of Northern Thailand represents a harmonious blend of tradition, spirituality, and artistic expression. Rooted in the cultural heritage of the Lanna Kingdom, the festival is marked by the release of khom loi lanterns, symbolizing spiritual renewal and communal bonds. Over time, modern adaptations, such as large-scale lantern installations and eco-friendly practices, have reshaped the festival while preserving its cultural essence. This paper explores the historical significance, visual artistry, community engagement, economic impact, and future prospects of Yi Peng. It highlights the balance between innovation and tradition, emphasizing sustainability and cultural preservation as critical for the festival’s enduring relevance.
