Abstract: Drug abuse represents a significant and complex public health challenge of global proportions. This extensive scientific review offers a comprehensive examination of drug abuse in Nigeria, delving into its prevalence, distinct patterns, underlying determinants, health ramifications, and multifaceted interventions. The review underscores the intricate interplay of social, economic, cultural, and environmental factors that contribute to the pervasive issue of drug abuse in Nigeria. Furthermore, it sheds light on the profound consequences affecting both physical and mental health, as well as the broader social and economic fabric of the nation. In closing, evidence-based solutions encompassing prevention, treatment, and policy frameworks are scrutinized for their efficacy in addressing the multifarious challenges posed by drug abuse within the Nigerian context.
