Abstract: We present results from an analytical tool developed at Banque de France that measures the fragmentation of the world economy. The Ukraine war has reinforced a trend to trade relatively more with countries in the same geopolitical bloc and less so with those in opposing blocs. Such a “East-West divide” can be traced back to the US-China trade war of 2018.

Nous présentons ici les résultats d’un outil analytique développé à la Banque de France mesurant la fragmentation de l’économie mondiale. L’invasion de l’Ukraine a renforcé une tendance à échanger relativement plus avec des pays du même bloc géopolitique et moins avec ceux du bloc opposé. Cette « fracture Est-Ouest » trouve son origine dans la guerre commerciale de 2018 entre les États-Unis et la Chine.
