Euro banknotes and coins in France in 2015

Abstract: In 2015, withdrawals and lodgements of banknotes at the Banque de France declined in value terms for the fourth consecutive year, under the combined effect of a dampened demand of banknotes and coins and of the development of direct banknote recirculation by private operators. Net issuance of banknotes rose by 4.1% in value terms in France and by 6.6% in the euro area as a whole.
