Abstract:
The 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026–2030) holds a pivotal bridging role in China's construction of a new energy system. The energy development landscape during this period will not only directly determine whether China can achieve its targets of peaking carbon emissions by 2030 and reducing carbon intensity by 65%, but also test whether the country is fostering sustainable endogenous green growth momentum. Furthermore, it is critical to securing solid energy support for the advancement of Chinese-style modernization. This report reviews China's energy development during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, analyzes the challenges to be faced during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, and provides a forward-looking perspective on future development prospects.
