Edited by Yiming Wei ()

in CEEP-BIT Books from Center for Energy and Environmental Policy Research (CEEP), Beijing Institute of Technology

Abstract: Compiled by Professor Yiming Wei, Director of the BIT Center for Energy and Environmental Policy Research (CEEP-BIT, http://ceep.bit.edu.cn/), with contributions from numerous faculty members and students of the center, China's Energy Economy: An Illustrated Guide (2014–2018) has been officially published and released. Against the backdrop of intensifying global climate change, a deteriorating international trade environment, escalating China-US trade frictions and the continuous advancement of energy cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, the global energy landscape is undergoing profound changes, and energy development is showing new phased characteristics. As a follow-up to China's Energy Economy: An Illustrated Guide (2012–2013), this book incorporates the new features of China's energy economic situation in the new era, updates basic data and charts, and puts forward new issues and reflections on China's energy economic development in recent years. From the perspectives of temporal evolution trend, spatial distribution and international comparison, the book presents the main conditions and operation patterns of China's energy economy, including energy reserves and production, energy consumption, energy markets, energy and environment, and energy security. Positioned as a digital popular science publication, the book delivers its content mainly through a question-and-illustration format, aiming to help the public grasp the current status and trends of China's energy economic development and stimulate readers' further attention to and thinking on issues related to China's energy economy.
