Edited by Yiming Wei (), Jinghua Wang, Baojun Tang and Hua Liao

in CEEP-BIT Books from Center for Energy and Environmental Policy Research (CEEP), Beijing Institute of Technology

Abstract: The book Think Tank on Climate Policy: International Cases has been officially published by Beijing Institute of Technology Press. It was edited and completed by Professor Wei Yiming and his team at the Center for Energy and Environmental Policy Research.A think tank is a professional research institution that takes public policy as its research object, aims to influence government decision‑making, orients its research toward the public interest, and adheres to social responsibility as its research principle. A climate policy think tank, in particular, focuses on climate change as its primary research subject, conducting interdisciplinary and comprehensive studies on the causes, impacts, projections, mitigation, and adaptation of climate change at the global level. It serves as a professional institution that provides recommendations for formulating national climate change strategies and policies, as well as for participating in international climate negotiations. Through international investigations, this book provides an in‑depth analysis of the current status and development trends of typical international climate policy think tanks, offering experience for establishing a China‑oriented climate policy think tank. It also emphasizes the functional positioning of the proposed think tank in terms of resource integration, organizational coordination, international exchange, and support for climate negotiations. To further examine the case studies, understand their development status and management‑operation mechanisms, and comparatively analyze their research experiences in the climate change field, the book draws lessons and implications for establishing various types of climate policy think tanks in China. The publication of this book was supported by the National Basic Research Program of China (973 Program) under Grant No. 2010CB955805, and its production work was also supported by the project "Research on Low‑Carbon Development in Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province" (Grant No. 201320) under the "China Low‑Carbon Development Macro‑Strategy Research" initiative.
