Abstract:
A triple roll mill was designed, fabricated, and tested using locally sourced and affordable materials for bar soap production. The machine comprises a shaft, rollers, bearings, hopper, and stand, powered by an electric motor. Soap solution was prepared in the laboratory and processed into pellets, which were fed into the machine’s hopper for smoothening, adhesion, and fine texture enhancement. The machine’s rotational speed was found to be smooth and moderate. The estimated cost of design and construction was N207,500. The development of this machine addresses the need for affordable roller mill technology for local bar soap manufacturers in Nigeria.
