Abstract:
The purpouse of this paper is to evaluate, in a framework of a three-goods model ( international tradables, regional tradables and nontradables) the effects of a devaluation that aims to achieve a goal of real exchange rate in response to an external shock. The main conclusion is that the most probable outcome of that kind of policy is an increase in the rate of inflation.
