Abstract:
The first Soviet tests of machine translation were conducted in 1955. An English text was translated into Russian. At present, experiments are being conducted on machine translation from 20 languages, including Chinese and Japanese. Research is being done on the development of special small‐size machine‐translators. It is expected that by 1961 these machines will serve as translators in many scientific institutions.
