Iterative strategy design

Daniel U. Wilde

American Documentation, 1969, vol. 20, issue 1, 90-91

Abstract: This paper describes a retrieval procedure and a strategy design philosophy which permit the strategy designer (SD) to focus in on his final results. The retrieval procedure allows SD to iteratively partition his data base into sub‐files and to quickly examine sub‐file content. The design philosophy suggests that SD should first use a very general partition and then iteratively repartition until he is satisfied with his retrieval results.
