What Is Different about Financial Firms?

David Miles

The Manchester School of Economic & Social Studies, 1991, vol. 59, issue 1, 64-79

Abstract: This paper uses information on the stock prices of large U.K. banks to assess the economic case for special forms of banking regulation. The link between information problems in banking markets and regulation is explored and evidence that such information problems are important for banks is presented.
