John Podesta, Director of the US think tank Center for American Progress Action Fund, finds that, in a country infamous for failing to stymie social inequity, the war on poverty has surfaced as a defining issue in the presidential campaigns. He argues that after eight years of Bush the time is finally right for a push to stamp out poverty in the US
