Tijdschrift voor Economische en Sociale Geografie, 2021, vol. 112, issue 1, 1-3
Abstract:
‘Bordering, Ordering and Othering’ (2002) by Henk van Houtum and Ton van Naerssen is one of the most cited and read papers published in TESG in the last two decades. This Introduction to the third TESG Forum briefly summarises the key points of the paper, followed by contributions of four border scholars who reflect upon the paper’s contribution and continued relevance to the field, but also discuss some of its shortcomings. Van Houtum closes this Forum with a reflection on these commentaries. Jointly, these five scholars also present a future border research agenda.
