CAUSALREP: Stata module for quantifying the internal validity and representativeness of OLS, IV, and two-way fixed-effects estimands

Abstract:
causalrep implements diagnostics for quantifying the internal validity and representativeness of weighted estimands developed by Poirier and Słoczyński (2026). It computes the measure of internal validity (MIV), defined as the largest possible share of the relevant target population for which an ordinary least-squares (OLS), instrumental-variables (IV), or two-way fixed-effects (TWFE) estimand can be represented as an average treatment effect. Where applicable, it also computes the measure of representativeness (MR), defined as the corresponding largest possible share of the entire population. The target population is the entire population for OLS, the complier population for IV, and the treated population for TWFE. The package can also compute these measures conditional on user-supplied conditional average treatment effects.
