Abstract:
pkgtransfer transfers the user-written packages installed in one Stata installation to another. It reads stata.trk in the current PLUS directory to identify installed packages and their sources, including SSC, personal websites, and GitHub, and writes a do-file of the ssc install, net install, and github install commands needed to reinstall them online on a new machine. Alternatively, download(online) downloads every package file from its source, or download(local) copies it from the local PLUS directory, and builds a local installation script and a ZIP archive for offline installation, and the restore option restores the online source URLs in stata.trk after an offline install. Options restrict or exclude packages, choose the target operating system for plugin filtering, name the generated do-file and ZIP archive, and allow existing output to be overwritten. The output records package sources, not a snapshot of package versions. Results returned in r() include the number and list of packages processed, the download mode, the target operating system, and the names of the generated do-file and ZIP archive.
