Abstract:
As from 2015, the Bank of Greece started publishing the balance of payments and international investment position statistics using the new methodology that was developed by the International Monetary Fund and described in the sixth edition of the Fund’s Balance of Payments and International Investment Position Manual (BPM6). The article outlines the key changes introduced in the goods and services accounts, in the primary and secondary income accounts, as well as in the financial account. The incorporation of ELSTAT’s foreign trade statistics in the balance of goods constituted a major change in the compilation of balance of payments, which affected the revision of current account aggregates.
