An Empirical Analysis on the Regional Output-Employment Relationship (in Korean)

Abstract: This paper investigates the regional effect of output on employment across the 15 regions in Korea, by estimating the effects of a home region's output and the other regions' output on the home employment. The findings are as follows: first, the effect of a home output on its employment differs the effect of the other regions' output. Secondly, while the effect of home output on employment is smaller than that of the other regions' output in the 6 big cities, the home output effect on employment is greater than that of the others' output in the 9 provinces. Thirdly, there is a negative relationship between the service sector share and the home output effect on employment.
