Abstract: Wanderlust and environment protection both play a major role in the lives of the generations Y and Z in Germany. But how can these two trends be reconciled? This article presents the results of a survey regarding the area of tension: climate protection and wanderlust. Both, a qualitative and a quantitative survey revealed that although both trends are important to the target group, they would choose travelling over environment protection if they had to decide. Nonetheless, the generations Y and Z want air transportation to change to protect the climate. For achieving this they are willing to pay more for travelling. The principle of compensation is known and generally supported by the people questioned although the majority has never compensated a flight.
